Over the past nine months, I’ve found myself often opting for a ‘no makeup’ makeup look on most days.
I think this was due to a combination of my skin being clearer than ever before (aka that “pregnancy glow”), limitations on ingredients due to being pregnant, and just overall exhaustion.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE trying out all kinds of different makeup products and putting together different looks, but for my daily look lately I have definitely been into a more natural look.
With that being said, we all know a ‘no makeup’ makeup look still requires some makeup and skincare products to give us that glowing look.
Of course I’ll always need a bit of concealer for my dark under eye circles, some mascara to make me look awake, and a nice lip balm or gloss – but there are a lot of other products that I was really lightening up on.
About a few weeks ago, I received a product to try out that really changed the game for my ‘no makeup’ makeup look.
Since then, I’ve been reaching for this product pretty much daily.
I have to admit, when I first received it, I was skeptical. I’ve tried countless serums that claim to give your skin a nice glow, but just didn’t do it for me.
However, I was pleasantly surprised with the results, even after my first time trying it.
This Great Skin Instant Glow Serum is described as, “a lightweight, bi-phase serum that instantly hydrates and plumps skin for a healthy glow.” Its key ingredients include niacinamide (for brightening), 4 types of hyaluronic acid (for deep hydration), caffeine-rich cacao seed extract (for plumping), and Japanese goldthread root (for soothing and antioxidant protection).
Now, you can use this serum to prep your skin for makeup, or on its own. I prefer it on its own, though I will say when paired with Merit’s The Minimalist complexion stick, it helps the stick to blend so seamlessly.
As a matter of fact, I tend to use The Minimalist has my under eye concealer, and the two really pair well together.
I really love the glow it has given my skin, it really helps to fight away the look of exhaustion and fatigue and leaves my skin looking healthy and hydrated.
Another great thing about this product is that it is clean, vegan and cruelty free.
If you’re looking for a lightweight alternative to your foundation for the days where you just can’t find it in you to put some makeup on, I can’t recommend this product enough.
