There’s truly nothing better than curling up with a blanket, your favorite snack and a good movie (in my opinion, at least). So I figured I’d share with you guys my top 10 favorite movies to watch as I sit back and relax.
1. A Walk To Remember
What better way to start the list than with a classic romance film. There’s truly nothing to not love about this movie. The amazing story line, the soundtrack that will undoubtedly be stuck in your head, and Mandy Moore, of course.
2. Donnie Darko
If you like movies that make you think, I definitely recommend this movie. Another classic, this psychological thriller was released in the early ages of Jake Gyllenhaal’s career. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the movie throws a major plot twist at you.
3. We Need To Talk About Kevin
Another psychological thriller. There are no words for how amazing Tilda Swinton is in this film. And let me just say, the ending of this film is totally not what I saw coming. Although when you watch the movie a second or third time around you’re kinda like “ooooohhhh.”
4. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
I know, I know “the movie is never as good as the book,” but I have to admit… this one was. Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller all do a phenomenal job in this film. The soundtrack is AH-MAZING, the acting is amazing, and the book to movie comparisons are great.
5. Heathers
If you love Winona Ryder in “Stranger Things,” I definitely recommend checking out some of her early work, in particular… “Heathers.” If you don’t know anything about the background of this movie and you just jump into watching it, it is definitely not what you expect. But I still definitely recommend it.
6. Memento
Here is another movie that will make you think… like, really think. If you find yourself getting distracted while watching movies, you may not want to watch this. This movie definitely requires your full attention to be able to follow along and understand what exactly is going on. But all in all, this is another psychological thriller that I recommend checking out!
7. Room
It’s hard to find the right words for the emotion that this film evokes. From sadness to happiness, you will feel everything while watching this movie. I’ve always been a big fan of Brie Larson, but this film was the first time I ever saw her portray a role such as the one she does here, and she absolutely pulls it off amazingly. Aside from Brie Larson, little Jacob Tremblay is sure to capture the hearts of anyone who watches this movie. He is absolutely adorable. This film is based off the book “Room” by Emma Donoghue.
8. Moana
If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you know by now that I am Disney-obsessed, so I obviously couldn’t make this list without including at least one Disney film in here. While I love countless Disney films, this is my favorite modern Disney movie. As all other Disney movies, the soundtrack to this film will 100% have you singing along. And I will admit, The Rock’s character of Maui is the perfect Disney comedic relief.
9. The Grudge
It takes a lot for me to get scared of a horror film, and I am a sucker for a good scary movie. However, “The Grudge” is the first real horror film that I ever watched and I will admit… it gave me a good scare. The second and third movies in the series definitely are not as good as the original.
10. Patriot’s Day
I’m wrapping up this list with a PHENOMENAL movie of bravery, anticipation and an absolutely horrifying situation. And it is all based on real events. We are all aware of the horrifying Boston Marathon bombing, and this film portrays the hours following the attack. All of the actors in this film do an excellent job portraying their characters who were thrown into a situation that nobody saw coming.
These are just a few of the many amazing films I’ve grown to love over the years. What are your favorites? Leave some suggestions so I can get to watching!
