Starting a blog can be exciting, but yet a little bit scary! There’s so many things to take into consideration when starting a blog — what is your niche? what will you name your blog? how will you promote your posts? There’s just so much to consider in your blog plan!

Whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been a blogger for quite some time the digital world is forever changing. As a blogger you need to be mindful of this ever-changing world, and adapt to it. If you don’t keep up with the digital trends, your blog traffic will likely decline and your blog will be hurting — and let’s be honest, we all want people to read what we write!

There are so many different ways to drive traffic to your blog, here are just a few of the ways to do so in the current digital age:

Posting to social media

Social media is one of the biggest tools you have at your disposal when it comes to driving traffic to your blog, and the best part? Having social media profiles is free! The four big platforms for bloggers are Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Every time you publish a new post on your blog, you should promote your post on each of your social platforms! Also, don’t be afraid to post your older blog posts to social media. Even though the post may be old to you, it might be new to someone else! Each one of your blog posts should also feature easy to find social media buttons that will allow your readers to share your posts to their social accounts! The more times your posts are shared, the more people they will reach!

Pro Tip: If you have a little bit of money in your budget to use for advertising, each social media platform offers you the ability to put money behind your posts, or even your account as a whole, and it will get your post or account in front of more eyes. The best part about that is most of the time the social platform will allow you to target the audience who will see the ad, making it more likely for those who see it to follow along with your posts and account.

Join blogger Facebook groups

When it comes down to it, besides your friends and family, other bloggers are the best and biggest supporters! Get to know some of these wonderful people by joining blogger groups on Facebook! These groups will allow you to connect with some awesome people, share your blog posts, discover some awesome new blogs, and even trade blogging tips! However, don’t forget to return the favor and show some love towards other bloggers’ work! The more you reciprocate the love, the better relationships you will build with others in the group!

Create quality content that will keep people coming back for more

What’s a blog without great content? Your content is what will keep readers coming back for more. It’s important to make sure you are offering up content that proves to be useful and entertaining to your audience! Make sure this content captures a potential readers eye by curating a great headline that will make people want to click! Another way to ensure your readers return is by creating an email newsletter that readers can subscribe to! Send those subscribers a reminder every time you publish a new post so that they have easy, first-hand access to your content!
