‘How I Met Your Mother’ Sequel Announced, Will Star Hilary Duff

We’ve got some big news for fans of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

It’s been announced that there is a sequel in the works, titled, How I Met Your Father.

The new series will star Hilary Duff, who will play the role of Sophie.

Hilary took to Instagram on Wednesday to express her excitement over landing the new role in How I Met Your Father.

The series will following the story of Sophie telling her son how she met his father. We will then be transported back to present day 2021 where Sophie and her group of friends navigate their futures and dating lives in the age of dating apps and more.

“This Is Us” show runners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will run the new series, with How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas on board as executive producers.

The new series will be available for streaming on Hulu.

The original How I Met Your Mother series ran for nine seasons and 200 episodes on CBS from 2005 until 2014. The original show starred Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Cobie Smulders and Josh Radnor.
