With a new year brings tons of new movies, as does every year.
Now more than ever, with the rise of streaming platform after streaming platform, we have so much content at the tip of our fingers to watch – not to mention all of the releases that will be coming to theaters as well.
Admittedly, this can be a bit overwhelming. I mean, where does one begin?
Need not to worry though! We’re listing out the most highly anticipated movie releases in 2023 that we think will be worth seeing – whether it be on the big screen, or the screen right at home.
M3GAN

MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE

In the final installment of Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike series, Mike Lane (Channing Tatum), who has been on hiatus from dancing and has fallen on hard times, joins a wealthy socialite (Salma Hayek) on a trip to London after she makes him an offer he can’t refuse. However, as it turns out, she seems to have an agenda all of her own.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA

In the third movie of the Ant-Man series, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man returns, taking a trip to the Quantum Realm where he encounters Kang The Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).
SCREAM VI

“In a city of millions, no one hears you scream.” Following the latest Ghostface killings, the survivors look for a chance to leave Woodsboro and start fresh. Viewers can expect a number of familiar faces return to their roles in this film (including Courteney Cox, Jenna Ortega and Hayden Panettiere), as well as a crop of new faces.
THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE

Chris Pratt voices Mario in this video game tale as old as time. Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Luigi (Charlie Day), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen) and the whole gang join Mario as he works to save the universe from Bowser’s (Jack Black) takeover.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

Marvel shows no signs of slowing down with title after title. This time, it’s time to face the music in the third (and final?) volume of Guardians of the Galaxy. This team of superheroes is sure to bring lots of action, and laughs, to the big screen this May.
THE LITTLE MERMAID

In this live action remake, Halle Bailey plays the beloved mermaid Ariel as she yearns to be a part of the world beyond the sea. Bailey will join David Diggs (Sebastian), Jacob Tremblay (Flounder), Awkwafina (Scuttle) and Melissa McCarthy (Ursula) among others in this classic tale.
BARBIE

Margot Robbie stars as the beloved blonde doll, Barbie, in this original film by Greta Gerwig. Joining Robbie will be Ryan Gosling as Ken and Will Ferrell as a character we don’t yet know.

THE MARVELS

As I stated earlier, Marvel shows no signs of slowing down with five releases in 2023 alone. Among them, Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in new movie The Marvels which will star Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani, and of course, the beloved Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES
Release Date: November 17, 2023
In a return to Panem, years before he were to become president, we find an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, played by Tom Blyth, assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) from District 12 ahead of the 10th annual Hunger Games. In this film that is sure to be action packed, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.
