Fall is in full swing and there are so many cute (and affordable) fall fashion trends this season that I am totally loving.
Ever just scroll through your Instagram and see post after post of the same trend? But still love it? That’s what I’m feeling right now!
Here are a few of my favorite trends this season:
Chunky Sweaters
A big, chunky, comfy, warm sweater is just one staple that I can’t go without during the fall and winter months. I have a very low tolerance for the cold, so clothes that will keep me warm are a must, and let’s be honest — a sweatshirt or hoodie just doesn’t always do. Depending on the sweater, I tend to style them with a pair of nice leggings and boots or booties, but jeans are always an option as well. It all depends on the sweater and the occasion.
Tweed
When I was younger and raided my mom’s closet to play dress up, I was bound to find some tweed jackets and maybe even some skirts in there. Now, the trend has come full circle and is back and better than ever. I’ve seen so many adorable tweed skirts and dresses and jackets lining the shelves of so many stores and I am so here for it. I recently picked up my own tweed skirt from Primark for just $16 and it is so super cute. I haven’t had a chance to wear it just yet, but I plan to style it with black tights, booties, and likely a black sweater.
Midi Skirts
The skirt season is no longer just confined to the spring and summer months. Now, midi skirts are allowing those who love skirts to extend those skirt wearing months into fall. While I have yet to pick one up myself, my Instagram feed has been full of midi skirts and I can honestly say I haven’t seen one I don’t like! Many women are tending to style them with either sweaters or layering them with graphic tees and light jackets. These types of skirts can be worn for all types of different occasions – work, dinner, fall festivals, just going out with friends, you name it. And who doesn’t love an outfit for all occasions?
Crew Neck Sweatshirts
Yes, yes, I know sweatshirts have always been around to keep us warm. But lately I feel as though I have been seeing the typical crew neck straying away from the norm and becoming stylish. I’ve seen cropped crew neck sweatshirts, graphic crew necks and, my personal favorite, oversized crew neck sweatshirts. I’m particularly love the selection from Aerie, which is where a few of my favorites have come from. Let’s be honest, we can’t be comfy 100% of the time, but if I can be comfy and look like I didn’t just roll out of bed and walk through hell to get there I will take it! These crew necks are both comfy and stylish!
Animal Print
In my personal experience, animal print for me has been a trend that tends to come and go, but with the increase in the use of the snake skin print, it is totally in for me right now. I, personally, am not the type of person who can get away with pulling off a pair of snake skin pants, but I love adding pops of print to my outfits. I’m constantly wearing low key, neutral clothes so these pops of print are key.
Scrunchies
Lastly, not so much clothing but an accessory trend, scrunchies! It’s so funny to me to see this younger generation walking around with an arm full of scrunchies thinking it’s a new big trend when I can remember when I was younger my mom would put my hair in a ponytail on top of my head with a giant scrunchy. We had scrunchies of all kinds to do my hair with. I love that the scrunchy trend is coming back because if we’re being honest, scrunchies are so much better for your hair than the regular elastic hair tie that can cause damage to your hair. And even if you don’t want to use it for your hair, you can still use scrunchies as a wrist accessory. I’m all about practical accessories!
All in all, I’ve seen a lot of fashion trends this fall that I am a big fan of. If you have any favorite trends you’ve seen this season, I would love to hear them! Leave a comment!
